In 2016 I was diagnosed with bone cancer. Both my hips and femur had the disease. My left hip badly broke due to fall so I was admitted to Salford Royal for treatment and put into the care of Dr Batra who performed a bilateral hip and femur replacement one in June and the other September. The diagnosis, treatment plan and were explain very well to me and made easy to understand. I have now fully recovered from the operations and continuing my fight against my cancer ,which I am pleased to say I am winning slowly but surely. I have no doubt the Dr Batra and his wonderful surgical team has helped in my battle against a wicked illness. Even now when I go for yearly check up he still remembers details about me and my family that I didn't think he would. He is a very caring and knowledgeable doctor and if would definitely fully trust in his prognosis, surgical skills and after care. I would also like to thank the staff on B6 who looked after me while I was in ,their job is not an easy one but their. But they got on regardless.

It was a pleasure to see you doing so well. Heartwarming actually. So good to see looking at it from your children's point of view...

Mr Batra is first and foremost an exceptional and skillful surgeon. However, his talents go beyond the operating theater. I have always found him understanding, calm, friendly and reassuring during appointments before and after surgery.

After being under Mr Batra's care resulting in an Arthroscopy in both knees over 5 years, due to fitting carpets over 41 years, I can say that I give him 100% of my trust .He is true specialist, and I consider myself very lucky to have been treated by him.

My husband had limited mobility before having a hip replacement. Since his operation physically and mentally there has been a vast improvement due to him now being able to walk properly again. Mr Batra fully explained the whole procedure in detail from beginning to end. I can't thank Mr Batra enough for giving my Husband his mobility again. I would highly recommend anyone to have any procedure with Mr Batra.

Profile

I have been a Hip & Knee Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital since 2010.

I perform Hip and Knee Replacement, Revision Hip and Knee Replacement, Arthroscopic (keyhole) Hip and Knee Surgery, including ACL reconstruction.

I see people with any type of sports injury to arrange diagnostic tests and organise treatment and rehabilitation.

I am one of few Orthopaedic Consultants in the region who has also completed their Sports Medicine Membership exams (MFSEM) with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. This gives me an unique insight into sporting injuries, training methods sports psychology as well as nutrition.

I am a keen runner and still run in the Vets Category for Sale Harriers with a marathon PB of just over 3 hours. I have played a number of different sports at a good level including badminton and squash for my University.

I am happy to see patients who have sporting ambitions at any level and are struggling to get back to their sport. You will get honest advice about what can and cannot be done.

I understand how important it is for you to be able to continue to do the sport that you love so much and I will do my best to help you achieve this.

I qualified in 1995 from University of Wales College of Medicine with Commendation. I did my basic Surgical Training (MRCS) in Manchester in 1998. I spent three years at the Manchester Medical School conducting research into how cells behave when human bone heals after it has broken, for which I was awarded my PhD. I started higher surgical training in 2003 and passed my FRCS (Orth) exam in 2007. During my training, I did the Bolton Knee Fellowship, Leicester Hip Fellowship and visited the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to complete a Visiting Clinician’s Fellowship. I completed my MFSEM with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
